Kasperaičiai Homestead of the Righteous Among the Nations

The Kasperaičiai homestead, located near Salantai, is a remarkable place where humanity triumphed over cruelty during World War II. Between 1941 and 1944, Zofija and Pranas Kasperaitis sheltered Basė Abelmanaitė and Rapolas Veržbolauskas, Jewish residents of Salantai, saving their lives. For their noble act, they were honored with the title Righteous Among the Nations and posthumously awarded the Cross of Rescue of the Perishing.
Near the homestead, by the roadside, stands an ancient stone with polished cup marks, a relic of pagan times. This place is not only a reflection of history but also a symbol of courage and compassion during the darkest of times.
