Bartninkai Manor

Bartninkai Manor is a historical site in the Vilkaviškis district with origins dating back to the 18th century. The manor was established in 1768 by Antanas Tyzenhauzas, the Treasurer of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Bartninkai hosted textile and iron casting manufactories, producing velvet and wire as early as 1785. In 1826, the manor was leased, and in 1835, Tsar Nicholas I gifted it to General Ivan Nostic. Until the land reform, the manor belonged to the Jarlakas noble family.
In 1923, the Bartninkai Manor palace became a forestry office and later a school, which operated until 1977. Although currently unused and deteriorating, the manor remains an intriguing cultural heritage site, attracting history enthusiasts and researchers.
