Negarbos Hillfort, also known as Bliūdkalnis due to its bowl-like shape, is considered one of the most beautiful and best-fortified hillforts in the Kretinga region. It is located in a picturesque spot near the Tenžė River, on the edge of a highland and surrounded by an impressive defensive rampart. The hillfort dates back to the 1st to 13th centuries, and at its peak once stood the Curonian Nebargė Castle, mentioned as early as 1253.
A legend tells that every 300 years, a cursed maiden appears on the hillfort, asking to be freed from the curse. To do so, one must kiss the terrifying toad, which grows larger and more frightening with each kiss. Unfortunately, no brave soul has yet managed to complete this task.
