The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Salantai stands out with its location on a hill and its impressive twin towers, 70 meters high, visible from afar. The current building, designed by the Swedish architect Karl Eduard Strandman, was constructed in the early 20th century and is considered one of the most magnificent examples of sacred architecture in Lithuania. Additionally, the Salantai church has "sisters" in Palanga, Švėkšna, and Ylakiai, all designed by the same architect.
The interior of the church is remarkable for its elegance – it houses a 17th-century painting of the Virgin Mary with the Child, which came from the earlier wooden churches of Salantai. The space is decorated with five wooden altars and graceful pulpits, which convey the sacred beauty and tranquility of the church.
