Memorial to the Former Ghetto - "Ghetto Gates"

In 1941, the Jews of Panevėžys were imprisoned in the ghetto between Klaipėdos, Krekenavos, J. Tilvyčio, and Skerdyklos streets, where most of them were executed. In 1993, a memorial called the "Ghetto Gates" was erected at the intersection of Klaipėdos and Krekenavos streets to commemorate their memory, symbolizing the Holocaust tragedy and the history of the city.
