Avižonis was closely connected with notable Lithuanian public figures of his time, and his contributions to eye health are still highly valued today. A monument to his memory has been erected in Pasvalys, near the local museum, created by sculptor Algirdas Bosas. The monument was funded by P. Avižonis' daughter, Birutė Blaževičienė, and its location commemorates the professor's name, paying respect and recognition to his life's work.
