In the early 20th century, an ophthalmologist who worked as a military doctor developed his extraordinary career during the Russo-Japanese War and World War I, providing valuable insights into the field of eye diseases. During Lithuania's independence, he prioritized the development of ophthalmology, dedicating significant attention to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of eye diseases. Thanks to his initiative, a specialized Eye Clinic opened in Kaunas in 1930, becoming a prominent part of the country's medical institutions.
