The Užupis district, situated by the Lėvuo River, is known as one of the city's most charming corners, attracting both locals and visitors with its historical charm and cultural diversity. Since the beginning, when residents began settling here, Užupis has become an important community center. Until the early 20th century, the banks of the Lėvuo River were connected only by boats, but later a bridge was built, making it easier to cross from one side to the other. The preserved historical brick rectory building is an important cultural heritage site, while the modern Užupis riverfront delights visitors with expressive wooden sculptures and vibrant cultural life. The "Barn Theater," located in an old barn, is a perfect example of how historical buildings can be adapted for contemporary cultural activities and become vibrant community meeting places.
