Near Kamajai, there is a site locally known as "Žydų ganyklos" (Jewish Pastures), where during the Soviet repressions (1944–1953), the remains of partisans from the Kamajai, Kupiškis, Duokiškis, and Salos areas were buried. Before burial, the bodies of the partisans were publicly desecrated in the town square of Kamajai. This place bears witness to the tragic fate of 96 Lithuanian freedom fighters. In 1992, a memorial was erected here to honor their memory. "Žydų ganyklos" is an important site of historical memory, attracting travelers interested in the history of the Lithuanian partisans' struggles.
