Algimantas District Partisan Battle Trails

In Šimonys Forest, 5 km and 10 km routes invite visitors to explore Aukštaitija’s partisan history. This was the center of Algimantas District resistance, with ~200 fighters in 1945. The trail features 6 hideouts used by Green, Šarūnas, and Duke Margis units. Between 1947–1949, Eastern Lithuania’s command posts operated here. The route reveals stories of freedom fights and Lithuania’s cultural heritage.
