A somber chapter of history is commemorated in Kėdainiai District with a memorial (an oak pillar shrine and two commemorative plaques) erected at the site where 12 civilians tragically perished on November 4, 1945. This memorial site was established in August 1990, with the support of the Kėdainiai branch of the exiles’ club. The site also includes the grave of Genovaitė Mažeikaitė, a girl who died beneath the collapsed stove of her home, marked by a cross erected in 1946 or 1947. This location serves as a poignant reminder of the pain and courage of our past.
