Lithuanian Independence Monument

The Independence Monument, standing 4.5 meters tall and symbolizing the values of freedom and bravery, was erected in 1928 and unveiled on September 23. The monument was located near Seinai Street, resembling a tower with battlements, and the pedestal featured a carved oak wreath with the inscription: "The work of heroes, the bravery of warriors, shall shine for generations through the ages." The front displayed a bas-relief of Gediminas' Tower with the motto: "Do not forget Vilnius, Lithuanian!"
In 1990, through the initiative of Jonas Verseckas, the monument was rebuilt in a new location to fit the now smaller square. The reconstructed monument, with a square base, resembles a castle tower with stylized elements.
