Founded in 1619 by Paulius Sapiega, the church became an important object of sacred architecture. Unfortunately, it was destroyed by the Russian army in 1655, and temporary places of worship were only built around 1720. Mykolas Servacas Višnioveckis constructed a new wooden church with a dome, which was renovated in 1785, and a belfry was added. After being struck by lightning in 1807, a new stone church was built from 1818 to 1822, financed by Tomas Ušinskis. Between 1885 and 1890, the building was expanded, with two towers added, along with new ceilings and altars. The architecture combines elements of classicism and neo-Baroque, distinguishing the church with its eclectic style and historical value.
