In Klepočių village, in the Petroškų forest, bloody battles took place on September 20, 1949, against the MGB, resulting in the death of Jurgis Gylys-Kalnius, the chief of staff of the Dainava District's Šarūnas Battalion, born in 1919 in Galstų village, now in the Lazdijai district. This battle involved 510 soldiers from the MGB, led by Colonel Voronov, commander of the 34th Rifle Regiment, and Aleksejev, head of the Lazdijai district MGB department. In addition to Jurgis Gylys, the battle claimed the lives of partisans from the Šarūnas Battalion's Mindaugas group: Kostas Markevičius-Tautmylis, born in 1927 in Užukalnių village, and Albinas Vabalas-Kadugys, born in 1930 in Laibagalių village. This location is significant for those interested in the history of Lithuanian partisans and seeking to learn more about the struggles for independence.
