The Combat and Death Site of Lithuanian Partisans Vytautas Kalėda-Dobilas and Antanas Voveruška-Banga

In a former bunker at the Kuckailiai homestead, on January 1, 1952, a decisive battle took place against an MGB unit from the Veisiejai district. At this site, partisans Vytautas Kalėda-Dobilas and Antanas Voveruška-Banga from the Mindaugas battalion of the Dainava district were killed. The fighters, hailing from the villages of Šutroniai and Stalai, perished due to the betrayal of agent “Žena.” These battles mark a dramatic period in the history of Lithuania's partisan resistance. This site invites visitors to explore Lithuania's history and the legacy of the partisan struggle.
