Near Lake Žiežulys, in the former Žigai homestead, stands an exceptional small-leaved lime tree (Tilia cordata), whose size and massive trunk inspire tourists and nature lovers. This 200-year-old lime tree still thrives and attracts visitors every year. Its hollow, which reaches a height of about 5 meters and a width of 0.7 meters, is a testament not only to its longevity but also to the challenges it has endured. The tree, which reaches a height of 25 meters and has a trunk width of 4.2 meters, has withstood many natural forces—from strong winds to careless loggers.

many natural forces—from strong winds to careless loggers. If this lime tree could speak, it would tell the story of the insurgents of 1863, who hid weapons nearby at the Minčia water mill and fought against the imperial army. This site, rich in historical significance, along with the surrounding forest areas, offers peace and a place for reflection for those interested in Lithuania’s history. Above the top of the lime tree, a buzzard soars, adding to the beauty of this stunning natural oasis.
