The Honorary Citizens Park of Užpaliai was established in 2002 at the initiative of the local mayor, Vytas Jurka. Since then, every year during the community reunions held on the eve of the Holy Trinity Feast, the title of Honorary Citizen is awarded to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the region. This recognition is symbolized by the planting of a new tree—a linden or an oak—within the park. Currently, the park is home to 10 oak trees and 7 lindens, serving as a reminder of important figures in the area. However, the title of Honorary Citizen is not awarded annually; it is reserved for those with outstanding achievements for the Užpaliai region.
