On the wall of the building marked with number 97 on Aushros Street, you can see an impressive artwork – the Tree of Life mural created by Kaunas artist Goda Skėrytė and Marijampolė artist Ieva Olimpija Voroneckytė. This mural was inspired by the paper cut "Tree of Life" by Utena folk artist Odeta Tumėnaitė-Bražėnienė, which conveys deep Lithuanian traditions and worldview.
The Tree of Life symbolizes the history and cultural identity of our nation: its roots represent ancestors and the past, the birds symbolize souls, and the blossoms signify the future. The trunk represents the present, where connections between the past and future intertwine. This artwork not only beautifies the buildings of Utena but also encourages interest in Lithuanian folk art and ethnoculture, demonstrating that traditions can be interpreted in a modern and contemporary way.
