The Majakas Hillfort, located in the Tauragnai Landscape Reserve of Aukštaitija National Park, is a significant historical site that attracts tourists and history enthusiasts. It is situated on the left bank of the Šventė stream, just 120 meters from the southern shore of Lake Tauragnas.
The hillfort's platform is rectangular, measuring 16x10 meters and oriented north-south. The steep slopes, 10–12 meters high, were once reinforced with ramparts and ditches for defense. Nearby, a foothill settlement added to the historical significance of the area. Although the hillfort has not been extensively researched, it is dated to the early 1st–2nd millennium AD. Listed in the Register of Cultural Heritage, it holds the status of a protected monument.
Visiting the hillfort offers an opportunity to explore Lithuania’s history while enjoying the breathtaking natural scenery.
