The history of the Užpaliai Church dates back to 1522, when it was granted a tithe from the estate's income. The first wooden church was built in 1563. In the early 17th century, it briefly came under the control of the Calvinists, but was quickly returned to the Catholics. In 1651, a new sanctuary was built and consecrated in 1653. Around 1750, the old church was demolished, and in 1787, it was rebuilt after a fire.
In 1847, a brick bell tower was constructed, and in 1888, the construction of a new brick church began, designed by architect Ustinas Golinevičius. The church, consecrated in 1898, is distinguished by its historicist style, with elements of Neo-Gothic and Neo-Romanesque architecture. It features two towers, a rectangular plan, three naves, and five altars. The current organ and brick bell tower are included in the Register of Cultural Heritage.
