Lake Salotas is a small but beautiful lake located in Telšiai District, 3.5 km from Žarėnai. The lake is 1.8 km long, up to 0.7 km wide, and situated at an altitude of 159.2 m above sea level. The lake basin was formed during the Ice Age, and its shores are low and marshy, especially in the southern part, where the Kliokų Swamp extends. The lake features a small island of 0.1 hectares in size.
Salotas is part of the Varniai Regional Park and is surrounded by the Ankantai Forest. A stream from Kliokio Lake flows into the lake, and a stream flows out from the northern side, connecting Salotas with Didovas Lake. On the northern shore of the lake, there is a recreational area, popular with locals and tourists alike.
Salotas is also a favored spot for fishermen, particularly due to the abundance of roach, making it an excellent place to spend a peaceful time in nature.
