Varnių Regional Park is one of the most unique areas in Samogitia, offering the opportunity to see some of the most impressive hillforts that bear witness to medieval battles against the Teutonic and Livonian Orders. Among the most famous hillforts are Šatrija, Girgždutė, Moteraitis, Sprūdė, and Vembūtai. The park also features the largest natural lake in Samogitia, Lake Lūkstas, which is remarkable for its waves that wash amber pieces ashore – the only lake in Lithuania with this phenomenon.
The park is known not only for its natural beauty but also for its sacred and wooden architectural monuments. Visitors can explore the Sietuva Kūlgrinda (an ancient
stone road), the Debesnai Botanical Trail, and the Spiginas Cape Educational Trail. For archaeology enthusiasts, the Pabiržulis Archaeological Reserve near Lake Biržulis offers a fascinating site with about 50 ancient Stone Age settlements and burial grounds, containing traces of the Kunda, Narva, and Indo-European cultures.
In addition, the park is home to the impressive Skliaustis Oak, with a trunk diameter of 1.8 meters, making it the largest oak tree in Telšiai District. Varnių Regional Park also boasts numerous wetlands rich in biodiversity, and the post-glacial "caps" – kame plateaus – provide stunning views of the unique Samogitian landscape.
