The Church of St. Nicholas the Orthodox in Telšiai is a remarkable sacred architectural monument in Lithuania, renowned for its unique Cubist-style design. The first church was built in 1867 on Vilniaus Hill after demolishing a Catholic church and cemetery. Although local residents petitioned the Russian Tsar, their appeal remained unresolved. In 1932, the Lithuanian Supreme Tribunal transferred the church to Catholics.
In 1935, the Orthodox community acquired land in the northern part of Telšiai, where architect Vsevolod Kopylov designed a new church. The Cubist-style building features a massive cube-shaped structure crowned with an onion dome, while its cornices are adorned with angular, broken lines. This church stands as a unique example of Cubist architecture not only in Telšiai but in all of Lithuania.
