The church is located in the town of Šaukėnai, on the right bank of the Šona River (a tributary of the Venta). Šaukėnai Church is mentioned as early as 1497. The church has been rebuilt several times. The current wooden, framed church was built in 1947. The church has a rectangular plan with 2 spires. The churchyard fence is made of wooden structures with masonry arched gates. The churchyard gates are included in the list of protected cultural monuments. The 18th-century bell tower has been preserved.
