Kalniškiai Hillfort, also known as Biržė Mountain, is surrounded by the Venta Valley and ravines from the southeast and north. The slopes are steep, 11 meters high. The oval-shaped site measures 23×19 meters. Its western edge is bordered by a 4-meter-high, 24-meter-wide rampart, behind which there is a 40-meter-long, 7-meter-wide, and 3-meter-deep ditch. On the eastern edge of the site, there is a 1.5-meter-high, 11-meter-wide rampart, while the northern edge rampart of the site is damaged.
Southeast of the hillfort, there is a 6-hectare settlement from the second half of the 1st millennium, which was investigated in 1998. A cultural layer up to 1 meter thick was found there, containing animal bones, smooth ceramics, and a stone grinder.
