The current brick church, erected in 1826, began its history as a Catholic sanctuary and has undergone various transformations over the centuries. It was temporarily closed in 1869 and repurposed as an Orthodox church in 1871. The restoration of independence in 1918 allowed the Catholic community to reclaim this sacred site. The subsequent years brought significant changes: in 1922, the church was renovated, and in 1923, a parish was established. The 1935 restoration and the later renovation in 1969, carried out thanks to the initiative of Father Aleksandras Liachovičius and the financial support of the parishioners, preserved the beauty and spirit of the sanctuary. The church, representing early Classicism with its characteristic rectangular plan architecture and prominent bell tower silhouette, remains an important religious and cultural landmark.
