The bronze sculpture, created by sculptor Romualdas Kvintas, commemorates Vytautas Kernagis, a performer and author of sung poetry, an entertainment event director, a television host, and the pioneer of sung poetry in Lithuania. It was unveiled in 2009. It was decided to honor the maestro in Nida because he was closely associated with the Nida summer season opening festival "Benai, plaukiam į Nidą" for many years.
The sculptor depicted V. Kernagis life-sized with his most important attribute – the guitar.
Anyone can sit next to the maestro and take a photo. The sculpture of V. Kernagis stands in the center of Nida, near the lagoon. Next to the sculpture is the Bard's Square – a small concert space.
For those who want to listen to V. Kernagis's songs, an interactive activity is offered. By visiting the website www.88.lt and selecting a desired song, you can hear it while standing next to the maestro's sculpture. You can request a song for free, choosing from more than 60 pieces performed by the bard.
