In the Curonian Lagoon near the settlement of Pervalka, opposite Žirgų Cape, stands the oldest lighthouse in the Curonian Spit, which began operation on November 27, 1900. It is the only lighthouse in the Curonian Spit located in the lagoon on an artificial island. The 14-meter-high tower operates automatically, sending white signals visible up to 13 km away. The lighthouse, which narrows towards the top, has foundations of stone masonry, walls made of riveted metal sheets, and a bell-shaped roof made of tin. Inside, there are metal

stairs and a walkway with metal railings. In the early 20th century, the lighthouse's light was provided by a kerosene lamp, which was refilled daily by an inland waters maintenance vessel. Currently, the lighthouse is equipped with a buoy lamp with a photoelectric cell. The lighthouse was rebuilt twice, in 1948 and 1960, and the island was reinforced with concrete blocks. A major renovation of the lighthouse was carried out in 2006. The lighthouse can be reached by boat and is visible from the shore of the Curonian Spit.
