Bražuolė Hillfort is located in the Bražuolė Hydrological Reserve, on the right bank of the Bražuolė Stream, within the territory of Bražuolė village, in the Trakai District Municipality. In the Middle Ages, a well-fortified wooden castle stood on Bražuolė Hillfort, where the Grand Duke of Lithuania resided from the 13th to the 14th century, and from 1386, it served as the residence of Jogaila, King of Lithuania and Poland. On July 6, 1382, Jogaila and the Teutonic Order signed a short-term agreement known as the Bražuolė Agreement at this castle, in which both parties pledged not to attack each other’s territories until September 8, 1382. To the southwest of the hillfort are the remains of an ancient settlement, and on the southwestern side of the hillfort, there are remnants of burial mounds from the 9th to the mid-12th century, known as Kapčiai.
