Alytus City Garden is a green oasis of history, romance, and nature right in the heart of the city. Established in 1931, the park is known for its rose gardens and its legendary fountain, installed in 1939 based on a design by engineer V. Trečiokas. The fountain, located at the heart of the garden, symbolizes the sun, from which the park’s paths radiate like rays. It once hosted goldfish and blooming lilies. The garden is home to 55 species of trees and shrubs, and features commemorative oaks dedicated to President A. Smetona, Baltic unity, singer K. Petrauskas, and the centenary of Lithuania. It is a place filled with memories of love – from dates by the fountain to romantic lines carved into benches. The City Garden is a living testament to Alytus' cultural identity and natural heritage.
