Oskar Brackmann was a historical city figure who transformed Pärnu into a well-known seaside resort on the Baltic Sea. Serving as mayor for nearly 40 years, he initiated the construction of the railway, the implementation of electric lighting, and the development of the Beach Park and health facilities. Thanks to his vision, the city became a center for recreation and health tourism. The monument, created by sculptor Mati Karmin and unveiled in 1991, continues to attract travelers and history enthusiasts visiting Pärnu’s Old Town.
