The Old Panevėžys Theater Building is a state-protected cultural heritage site, constructed in 1891. The initiative to rebuild the building came from industrialist S. Montvila, who established a theater hall here. In 1913, the building was donated to the city, and in 1914, it also hosted a cinema. Between the World Wars, the building served as the headquarters of the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union, and from 1940 to 1967, it was home to the Panevėžys Drama Theater, whose performances gained international recognition. Today, it houses organizations for riflemen and exiles.
