Located near the Alanta stream, the Church of St. Andrew the Apostle in Velykiai is one of the most beautiful sacred tourism sites in the Panevėžys district. Built in 1839 from stone and brick, it captivates visitors with its historicist architectural style. The church's history began with a chapel constructed by Vincentas Juozapavičius. In the early 20th century, the church was expanded, chapels were added, and a tower was built. The interior was renovated between 1928 and 1931, and in 1931, the church was consecrated by Bishop Kazimieras Paltarokas. Despite the hardships of war, the sanctuary has remained standing. Today, this cross-shaped church invites travelers to discover Lithuania’s sacred heritage and enjoy peaceful spiritual rest.
