Šilėnai Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a unique religious tourism site born from legend. It is said that shepherds found a painting of the Holy Trinity floating down the Neris River, which miraculously kept returning to Šilėnai, even after being moved to Sudervė. This was considered a divine sign, and the first church was built on the site in 1725. Later, the church also became known for a painting of the Virgin Mary, created by a local organist after a dream. Though it long functioned as a filial church, it became an independent parish only in 1922. The church houses a rare 16th–18th century Holy Trinity painting, 19th-century artworks (“St. Anthony,” “St. Joseph,” “Mary of the Rosary”), and a 1725 bell with a crown. It is a place where faith, history, and culture converge.
