The "Albatross" monument in Klaipėda, dedicated to the fallen Lithuanian sailors and sunken ships, was unveiled in 2011. This metal albatross symbolizes the souls of sailors, which, according to legends, are reborn in these birds. The monument honors sunken ships such as "Neringa," "Panevėžys," "Kaunas," and "Prezidentas Smetona," and has become an important symbol for the maritime community and Klaipėda as a maritime center. The monument's author is sculptor Klaudijus Pūdymas, and it was created at the AB Western Shipyard. The monument preserves the memory of sailors and the hope that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
