Vytautas Hill in Birštonas is one of the resort’s most notable landmarks, offering a breathtaking panorama of the town and the bend of the Nemunas River. Upon ascending the 40-meter-high hill, visitors are rewarded with a stunning view, making it a favorite spot for tourists, artists, and selfie enthusiasts alike. Vytautas Hill is also a witness to history—it was once home to a castle that defended the Duchy of Trakai from the Teutonic Knights. After the Battle of Grunwald, the castle lost its strategic significance and was abandoned, yet the hill remains a renowned destination for romantic strolls. A visit to this hillfort is incomplete without climbing to the top to experience the tranquility offered by both nature and history.
