The Old Cemetery I of Karklė Village is a unique historical and cultural site listed in the Cultural Heritage Register. These cemeteries are also known by other local names, such as the Lipa or Skenduoliai cemeteries, which are associated with ancient customs and memories of the local inhabitants. More than a century ago, people who were victims of storms and sea disasters, and whose bodies were washed ashore, were buried here, becoming victims of the sea. The cemetery bears witness to the ancient relationship between the local population and the sea, as well as to the important historical and cultural heritage connected with coastal life.
