In 1827, under the leadership of Ignas Balinskis and Elžbieta Balinskienė, a brick church was built in the Punžonys estate, which became a filial church of the Karkažiškės parish. Initially known as Bageliškės, the estate was renamed Balingrad by the landowners. In 1870, the church's activities were halted by the decision of the Russian Empire. However, in 1928, the church was revived as a parish center, and the building was renovated. On September 30 of the same year, Archbishop Romuald Jałbrzykowski consecrated the church, establishing it as a spiritual and community center.
