The lake stretches 0.85 km from southwest to northeast, with a maximum width of 0.37 km. It has an elevation of 120.2 meters and features shallow shores covered with pine forests.
The lake contains a small island and has two beaches and a recreational trail along its shores, making it ideal for relaxation and active leisure. To the north, a stream flows into the lake from Lake Gėlaitis. Lake Gėla is part of the Neris River basin and has no outflow.
Lake Gėla is one of the cleanest lakes in the Vilnius area. On the northeastern shore, near the second beach, there is a clay bath, and the shoreline is covered with white clay, offering a unique relaxation experience.
The name "Gėlà" is derived from the words "gėlas" and "gėlus," meaning "freshwater" or "sweet."
