Biržų Alus Brewery is one of the oldest in Lithuania, renowned not only for its deep brewing traditions but also for its rich and colorful history.
Our brewery’s story began in 1686, under the instruction approved by Ludwika Karolina Radvilaitė, when the first brewery workshop was built. To this day, the brewery stands in its original location along the banks of the Agluona River. In 1704, the brewery was destroyed during the war with Sweden but was later rebuilt. According to legend, the city council convened specifically to decide whether to prioritize rebuilding the town hall or the brewery after the war. Unsurprisingly, the vote favored the brewery.
Today, Biržų Alus is a well-known brewery not only in Lithuania but also internationally.
