Lukiškės Square is a historic public space in Vilnius, established in the 19th century. It is currently bordered by Gediminas Avenue, Vasario 16-osios Street, and J. Tumo Vaižgantas Street. Throughout different periods, the square served as a market and a site for executions. Starting in 1875, essential establishments such as restaurants, cafes, shops, and workshops began to develop around it.
On the eve of World War II, pathways and lawns were installed in the southern part of the square. After the war, the square underwent improvements, including the installation of streetlights, curbs, and enhanced greenery as part of a special project. Over time, it became a central venue for major city events.
