These images were discovered at the "Beit Hatfutsot" Museum in Tel Aviv by historian Ralf Selindzer. The project was carried out in collaboration with Ingrida Bunikienė, an artist from the Vilkaviškis Cultural Center, and other local residents. The photos were transferred onto weather-resistant material, with support from the municipality and the building’s owners. This unique project honors the Jewish heritage and offers the local community an opportunity to connect with an important part of the town’s history.

The photos displayed on the former Vilkaviškis fire station building commemorate the Jewish community of Vilkaviškis. The history of the volunteer fire brigade, established in 1899, reveals the close collaboration between Lithuanians and Jews in addressing fire-related challenges at that time. The initiative was led by historian Ralf Selindzer, who discovered over 15 photos depicting the life of Vilkaviškis' Jewish community at the "Beit Hatfutsot" Museum in Tel Aviv. Only the highest-quality images were selected and reviewed for the exhibition. The project was supported by Ingrida Bunikienė, who handled

the design and preparation of the photos for display. The initiative also received backing from the municipal administration, local entrepreneurs, and many community members. The photos were transferred onto weather-resistant materials by the team of Mantas Kasulaitis, head of the Vilkaviškis-based company UAB "Tentukas." The photos are intended to remain on display for several years, with plans to create copies for exhibitions in other locations. This project not only contributes to preserving Jewish history but also encourages the Vilkaviškis community to deepen its understanding of the town's heritage.
