St. Lawrence Church in Kalnalis stands out with its unique aura and historical legacy. It was here that the famous Bishop of Samogitia, Motiejus Valančius, was baptized, and the church houses unique "guards" – life-sized wooden sculptures of Christ’s sentinels. The current church, built in 1883, replaced the previous one, which was destroyed by a fire caused by lightning. The sanctuary is adorned with three altars, and the main altar is crowned with a painting created at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts.
Nearby, a separate wooden bell tower holds a bell cast at the end of the 18th century. The church is located on a hill where an observation tower has been built, offering stunning views of the Samogitian landscape. This is a place where the sacred blends with the beauty of nature, inviting not only for prayer but also for exploration.
