In the summer of 1941, tragic Holocaust events took place in the Salantai area. In mid-July, 11 Jewish men were killed, and in September, 30–35 women, who worked on agricultural tasks at the Šalynas estate and surrounding farms, were murdered. Additionally, 4 Jewish women became victims near the Eglinskai homestead. A stone with a memorial plaque stands in the nearby mass grave complex, northeast of the buried victims, symbolizing the importance of remembrance and inviting visitors to reflect on the significance of these events in Lithuanian history.
