Gintarų Hillfort, also known as Cherry Hill, is a special place where a completely different way of life flourished until the 16th century. Although the manor, cherry orchard, ponds, and the Evangelical Reformed church are no longer here, the panoramic view of the hillfort has remained unchanged and continues to captivate every visitor.
Legend has it that every 300 years, the living corpse of a buried noblewoman emerges from the hillfort’s cellar, and locals speak of secret entrances to the manor’s cellars, said to be full of treasure. Even if the treasures remain unfound, the historical significance of this site is still impressive – cremation graves discovered near Cherry Hill testify to the life of the Balts and Curonians in this area as early as the 2nd century BC.
This hillfort is not only a place steeped in legends but also an excellent location to enjoy nature and explore the historical region of Kretinga.
