The Grabijolai Educational Trail is a "wild" hiking path leading from the ethnographic village of Grabijolai to the thickest oak tree in the Neris Regional Park – the ancient Alkų Oak. Along the way, you will pass through the Sweet Stream, surrounded by lively stories, the mystical Uolkas (Alkų Hill), the foundations of the former Zapalina manor, and the recently discovered Paalkiai Hillfort. The trail also leads to the Neris River, where you will encounter mythological stones. On this path, you will not only experience breathtaking landscapes but also sites created by human hands, now reclaimed by nature.
This approximately 4 km trail
is not conventional – you won’t find wooden stairs, gravel paths, or other comforts, which is why it is often called an "extreme, wild trail." The path takes you through meadows, field edges, former village roads, steep slopes, and deep ravines. Therefore, it is recommended to wear comfortable, moisture-resistant shoes with non-slip soles and prepare for a challenging, "wild" hike.
The trail passes through private land, so to respect local residents and nature, please refrain from making campfires and carry out all your waste. The Grabijolai area hides many secrets, so we hope this walk will not only be enjoyable but also enriching.
