In this historic corner of the Pasvalys region, where the routes of book carriers intersect, there remains a wooden house with book hiding places steeped in history. This area was a crucial center for the fight for the Lithuanian language and culture, and it was here that the legendary Jurgis Bielinis, sometimes called the king of the book carriers due to his tireless efforts in distributing banned publications, was active. Eight book carriers from this region are forever memorialized in the Vytautas the Great War Museum garden in Kaunas, where the Book Carriers' Wall stands, proclaiming their courage and dedication to Lithuanian cultural freedom. The traditions of book carrying are also commemorated by a wooden pillar created by sculptor Arūnas Grušas, symbolizing the contributions of the region's inhabitants to the history of the national movement.
