In the old Auksūdžiai-Ežkepiai Cemetery stands a monumental cross dedicated to Mikalojus Klaniauskas, a partisan of the Kardo Unit of the Žemaičiai District. He perished on August 22, 1948, in the Kunigiškiai Forest. His remains were secretly buried at this location between 1948 and 1990.
The cross symbolizes Mikalojus Klaniauskas’ sacrifice in the fight for Lithuania’s freedom and serves as an important site for preserving and honoring the nation’s history.
