Monument to Jonas Žutautas – A Tribute to Freedom Struggles

Located on Mokyklos Street (Mokyklos St. 4) in the town of Kartena, a monument honors Jonas Žutautas (1921–1946), a member of the Žemaičiai Region Kardo Detachment headquarters and founder and leader of the Kadagys Unit. This monument symbolizes not only the heroism of one man but also the enduring spirit of Lithuanian resistance during the Soviet occupation.
Unveiled on May 29, 2015, the monument was initiated and realized by Juozapas Antanas Viluckas, chairman of the Kartena Society for Commemorating the Struggles for Independence. This site now serves as a significant memorial, inviting visitors to remember and reflect on the fight for freedom.
