The history of the Pasvalys region is rich with ancient tales, and the Santaka Hillfort is one of those mysterious historical sites that connect our past with the present. Nestled in the wooded surroundings of the Neris Valley, this hillfort stands as an authentic witness to time, with its slopes embracing ancient culture and foundations rooted deeply in the period from the beginning of the first millennium to the beginning of the second millennium. This elevated terrain, with its elongated oval shape and a platform stretching up to 110 meters long, is protected by ramparts and ditches, as if hiding the secrets of the past.
Despite being marked by the works of people from previous years, Santaka Hillfort remains a solid synergy of nature and history. Preserving and presenting the fortifications, including the ramparts, ditches, and remaining scattered stones, serves as our present-day bridge to the future. The path to this historical treasure trove is both mysterious and adventurous, creating a real impression for visitors and opening a book of secrets and legends. This site is not only of interest to archaeologists but also attracts outdoor culture and nature enthusiasts, making it a true asset in the context of our heritage and identity.
